Christopher Ciccone, an artist, interior designer and younger brother of Madonna, has died, his rep Brad Taylor confirmed to Variety. He was 63.
Ciccone had been battling cancer and died on Friday, according to a statement from Ciccone’s family.
Ciccone, who got his start as a dancer, was a frequent collaborator with his sister Madonna during her rise in pop stardom in the 1980s. He appeared in several music videos, including “Lucky Star,” and served as art director on her 1990 Blond Ambition World Tour. He was also the tour director for Madonna’s The Girlie Show tour in 1993.
In 2008, Ciccone released the bestselling autobiography “Life With My Sister Madonna,” which included details about their strained relationship as well as their childhood and time working together.
Ciccone went on to work as an interior designer and, in 2012, he launched a footwear line called Ciccone Collection.
In 2016, Ciccone married British actor Ray Thacker, who was by his side when he died.
