Golden Globe Awards Set ‘Golden Eve’ CBS Special, Golden Week Events
The Golden Globe Awards will expand its presence next year with a “Golden Eve” primetime special on CBS as well as a slate of Golden Week events in Los Angeles leading up to the 83rd annual ceremony on Jan. 11.
The “Golden Eve” special will feature highlights from the presentation of the Globes’ tribute awards, the Cecil B. DeMille Award and the Carol Burnett Award. It’s set to air Jan. 8 on CBS and Paramount+. This year, the Globes held a separate ceremony for those kudos, which were presented to Viola Davis and Ted Danson. The 2026 recipients will be unveiled soon.
The plan for a Golden Week of events and celebrations in Los Angeles is designed to generate buzz and build community within the entertainment industry. CBS will also promote the Golden Week theme heavily on air including integrations with a range of CBS shows. (Disclosure: The Golden Globe Awards and Dick Clark Prods. are owned PMC, the parent company of Variety.)
“We are so excited to expand our partnership with CBS and bring the Golden Globes to an even wider audience across the Paramount portfolio,” said Jay Penske, CEO of Dick Clark Productions. “With ‘Golden Eve,’ we will celebrate the industry’s most talented and influential figures, recognizing the recipients of the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award and Carol Burnett Award. This is a chance to properly honor those who have so profoundly shaped our culture with more than a 2-minute awards moment. This event and special will occur during ‘Golden Week,’ a premier cross-platform initiative with CBS that transforms the Globes into a multi-day cultural event, making it a cornerstone of the awards season.”
Details of Golden Week plans will be forthcoming as the ceremony draws near.
“CBS has long championed excellence in arts and entertainment and that will continue in 2026,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “With ‘Golden Eve’ and Golden Week, we’ll celebrate the Golden Globes across CBS and Paramount, creating an immersive experience that brings viewers closer to one of Hollywood’s most iconic events.”
The expansion of Globes-themed activity has long been a goal of the organizers of the awards. The administration of the Globes has undergone a massive transformation over the few years as it shifted from the nonprofit Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. to a for-profit venture owned by PMC.
“The Golden Globes has always honored the achievements of remarkable talents. With ‘Golden Eve,’ we’ll give viewers a more intimate look at our honorees’ legacies and bring audiences closer to these icons,” said Helen Hoehne, president of Golden Globes. “We’re excited to create an unforgettable night of award television with CBS and Paramount as we celebrate these legends.”
