“A Complete Unknown” will become available to watch from home later this month.
The Bob Dylan biopic will release on digital platforms, such as Prime Video and Apple TV, on Feb. 25. It will then release on 4K UHD Blu-ray and HD Blu-ray on Apr. 1.
The James Mangold film stars Timothée Chalamet as the freewheelin’ music legend during his early years in New York City, leading up to the Earth-shattering moment he strapped on an electric guitar during his 1965 Newport Folk Festival performance. The film also features his infamously tumultuous relationship with Joan Baez, played by Monica Barbaro, and a fictionalized version of his then-girlfriend Suze Rotolo, played by Elle Fanning.
After releasing in theaters in December, the film has taken in an impressive $69 million at the domestic box office, and topped the U.K box office well into January. It heads to the Oscars with eight nominations, including best picture, best directing and best actor in a leading role for Chalamet.
In his review of the film, Variety film critic Owen Gleiberman wrote that it “is a drama of scruffy naturalism, with a plot that doesn’t so much unfold as lope right along with its legendary, curly-haired, sunglass-wearing coffee-house troubadour hero.”
The film’s physical release, out Apr. 1, will feature bonus features, including behind-the-scenes featurettes such as: “The Making of ‘A Complete Unknown,’ “The Story,” “Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan,” “The Supporting Cast” and “The Design,” in addition to audio commentary by Mangold.
